World Waterpark, Edmonton

We’d be silly not to mention the world-famous West Edmonton Mall and the legendary World Waterpark. It's home to the world's largest indoor wave pool and 20 next-level waterslides. Whether you're flying down the Cyclone or bobbing in tropical air, it’s a blast year-round. Plus, you're steps away from Galaxyland, the Ice Palace, and hundreds of stores. Why just swim when you can bounce, slide, and climb on an inflatable obstacle course on the lake? Sylvan Lake Aqua Splash floats just off the beach and brings a whole new level of fun to lake life. Spend the day beating all your friends on the course, then grab an ice cream, rent a paddleboard, or just chill within one of Alberta’s prettiest lakeside towns. Rotary Splash Park, Drumheller

Drumheller has a whole lot more than dinosaur bones, folks. The Rotary Splash Park in Drumheller has dino-themed fountains and sprinklers that your kids will absolutely adore. It’s next to the famous World’s Largest Dinosaur, so you can climb up for jaw-dropping views of the Badlands after cooling off. Don’t miss the Royal Tyrrell Museum while you’re there.

McKay Ranch Aquatic Centre, Blackfalds

When you want options, McKay Ranch in Blackfalds has you covered. This indoor-outdoor recreation centre has a lazy river, waterslides, a spray park, and even an indoor lap pool and hot tub. It’s connected to the Abbey Centre with playgrounds and fitness facilities, so there’s no shortage of activities for the whole family.

Henderson Pool, Lethbridge

Festival Park River Slides & Splash Park, Whitecourt

Ready to try something unique? Whitecourt’s River Slides are concrete waterslides fueled by natural river water. They’re a fast, fun ride through a beautifully landscaped park; just don’t forget to bring your tubes and flotation toys. The park also has a splash pad, beach volleyball courts, and picnic spots, making it an excellent day trip destination for families looking for adventure.

Redcliff Water Park, Redcliff

This small-town gem packs a serious punch. Redcliff Water Park offers 25 water features nestled in the beautiful Lions Park. It’s affordable, filled with friendly locals, and has plenty of green space for picnics, making it a phenomenal family outing when exploring southeast Alberta.

Vauxhall Swimming Pool, Vauxhall

The cozy town of Vauxhall, Alberta, is fondly known as the Potato Capital of the West. The Vauxhall Swimming Pool is a great place to cool off after a day of summer adventures. It features a spacious outdoor pool, slides, and a splash area for little ones. If you’re passing through during harvest season, don’t miss a stop at a local farmers' market. We know waterparks and potatoes aren’t the classic combo, but this is the exception.

Discovery Canyon, Red Deer

Discovery Canyon is Red Deer’s best-kept summer secret. Here, you can rent (or bring) a tube and float down a natural-style, shallow river with sandy beaches perfect for lounging and playing. There's also a splash pad and concession area. This is an incredible summer attraction for anyone looking to do a little something different on a hot day.

Central Park Spray Park, Red Deer

Red Deer gets a double feature on this list because Central Park’s Spray Park is another must-visit for families. It’s located at Rotary Recreation Park and has a spray and splash area with water cannons, misters, and fountains. The railway and river themes are symbolic of Red Deer’s landmarks. Plus, you’re steps away from some of the city’s best coffee shops, restaurants, and the scenic trail systems.
