The folks at Lucky Strike Bowling Alley in Lac La Biche are hoping their upcoming bowling league season strikes up some interest as they expect to have good numbers register for the season which starts on September 10.

This will be the second year for the now-regular season being held at the local bowling alley (since the new management has taken over). The bowling club's current manager Trish Griffiths will be officiating the league and is now taking registrations for those interested in participating.

"Tuesdays will be Singles. Wednesdays will be Doubles. Thursdays will be Teams. They start September 10 with the Singles first, “ Griffiths said who has the lanes rolling six days a week. "I am taking in registrations now. If people want to come in and pre-register, we will be open for them to come here and do it... They can call anytime or come in any day of the week besides Monday, that's the one day we close."

Last year's new league action proved that people had missed the regular play schedule, said Griffith, explaining that the league had a good number of participants— with more expected this year.

"Last year we had about 25. It actually was really good for us last year, for the first time doing it. So, we are hoping this year, we will get more interest," she added, "It's a fun night out for adults. Just to get away and relax. I find bowling relaxing, you meet lots of new people, and you go on tournaments. It’s fun."

Never tried Bowling before?

Now's the time to try.

"We had a couple out last year who had never bowled before. Just watching them improve every week was just awesome, and you know what? They are coming back this year," said Griffiths.

Lucky Strike is also starting a kids’ league this year for ages 3 to 18. The exact start date for kids league hasn't been confirmed yet, but is scheduled in the fall as well.
