Police report: Crashed truck and stolen ATVs top RCMP list

Lac La Biche RCMP are continuing to investigate several matters relating to a single vehicle collision between a pickup truck and a power pole that took place on the night of November 9.

Lac La Biche RCMP say when police arrived at the scene of the crash, along Nashim Drive, they found a black Dodge pickup truck with extensive damage. Two occupants were inside the truck — along with what police say were two prohibited weapons. Initial investigation into the incident has revealed that two other occupants of the vehicle fled the scene as police arrived.

Police say the truck, a black Dodge 1500 was registered to a rental company in Calgary.

Neither of the two occupants found in the vehicle suffered serious injuries.

Police have no word on charges.

"This matter is still under investigation, and an update will be provided," says Lac La Biche RCMP Corp. Roxanne Generoux.

Early in the morning of November 10, Fortis crews were called to another power pole that had been struck by a vehicle— this time on the entrance road to the Beaver Lake hamlet subdivision —   during the previous before.  In that collision, the vehicle left the scene before any witnesses or police could get a description.

Local police are not saying if the two incidents were related.

Trailer stolen

Vehicles seen leaving the scene of a residential break-in didn't stop for RCMP who were arriving at the scen to investigate the alarm call. Local Mounties say officers reported vehicles leaving the scene of an Owl River-area call on the night of November 9 — but the suspect vehicles couldn't be stopped by police.

Police say the home had been broken into and a 2005 Rainbow flatbed trailer was reported to be missing from the property.  The trailer is described as being beige in colour with Alberta license plate V43485.

On November 9th, 2019, Lac La Biche RCMP responded to a report of multiple alarm hits at a residence near Owl River. Upon arrival, members noticed vehicles leaving the scene and refused to stop. The residence had been broken into. A 2005 Rainbow Flatbed trailer, beige in color, bearing AB licence plate: V43485 was stolen from the property.

Quads, boat and trailer stolen

RCMP say thieves made off with thousands of dollars worth of recreational equipment from a Square Lake area property.

Two 2011 Arctic Cat quads, one red, one black were reported missing to local police on November 9.

A 2012 red and black CanAm Commander, a 2012 red Honda Rincon 680 quad, and a 2006 red Honda RIncon 500 were also reported stolen along with a dark blue 2010 Tennessee 3900 boat trailer and a 2010 Ebtide powerboat.

Police say a  red 2012 Can Am was recovered at a residence in Saddle Lake. This investigation is still under investigation.

Fork Lake thefts

On Friday, November 14, Lac La Biche RCMP were responding to a report of several more stolen recreation vehicles from a cottage property in the Fork Lake area.

Police say a 2007 black utility trailer with license plate number W57495 was stolen frm the property along with a 1985 red Honda ATC with Alberta license bumber ZB001. A 2001 yellow Suzuki ATV was also stolen. THe Suzuki has Alberta license plate JM710.
