About 150 homes in and around the hamlet of Beaver Lake, known locally as Young's Beach, were left without power early Sunday night.
Fortis crews were on-site soon after the power cut, with crews focusing on a section of power line near the entrance to the subdivision about three kilometres southeast of the Lac La Biche downtown.
It was not known what caused the outage, but some residents out walking at the time of the power cut said they did hear a loud bang at about the same time.
At 8:30 pm on Sunday night, the Fortis website was reporting that about 160 customers were affected by an "unplanned outage" in the area. The company had an estimated time of restoring power set for 11:30 that night. There was no immediate reason given by the rural electrical transmission company for the outage.
