ST PAUL - Volunteers danced to the Christmas music on a freezing Friday night during the fifth annual Christmas Tree Lightning in the Town of St. Paul by the St. Paul Regional FCSS and Lakeland Family Resource Network.
For an hour between 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec 2, vehicles drove through a snowy path illuminated by colourful lights at the UFO landing pad. Then without many twists and turns, the vehicles were greeted by an enormous Christmas tree.
Timbits and hot chocolate were also served, thanks to Tim Hortons.
Lynn Smid, FCSS director, said people usually enjoy the sights at the annual Christmas tree lighting with a walk. But, due to the cold, they opted for a drive-by layout.
Smid said the event is a way for community members to get into the "festive spirit" as they drive around with their families to admire the lights.
She thanked the community for coming out in support, as well as the volunteers, including the St. Paul Youth Council (SPYC), who helped set up the event for success.
