RCMP find owner of snowmobile left on train tracks

Police hope to return silver Ski-Doo GTX1200 to owner

Shortly after issuing a local news release about a snowmobile found on the active railway tracks in the Lac La Biche downtown area, RCMP are reporting that the owner of the sled has been located.

Local RCMP issued a news release on Monday morning saying that snowmobile tracks leading to train tracks were leading them to track down the owner of the snow-machine that was found abandoned on the railway tracks south of Lac La Biche's Main Street on Sunday morning at about 10 am.. Police said the sled, a Ski-Doo GTX1200, had apparently got stuck on the tracks and abandoned. Police removed the machine from the tracks and impounded it.

Police released a stock image of the snowmobile model to the public, asking that the owner identify the machine, and prove ownership.

A short time later, the owner was identified.

"Lac La Biche RCMP would like to advise that the owner of the snowmobile was successfully located," said Lac La Biche RCMP Const. Cassandra Calverley in a followup news release issued late Monday morning. "Thank you to all involved in reuniting the owner with his sled."
