A tough season for the Bonnyville Voyageurs

On Friday, the Bonnyville Voyageurs will have one more opportunity to change their standing in the Wheatland Football League as the team travels to Lloydminster to face-off against the top ranked team in the league, the Holy Rosary Raiders.

BONNYVILLE – Stationed second to last in the Wheatland Football League, the 2022 football season has not leaned favourably for the Bonnyville Voyageurs.

Winning just one of four regular season games, the Voyageurs will have one more opportunity on Oct. 14 to change their standing as the team travels to Lloydminster to face-off against the top ranked team in the league, the Holy Rosary Raiders.

During the Voyageurs' last home game held at Walsh Field, the Lloydminster Composite Barons swept the game with a 35-0 win on Oct. 6.

So far this season, the Bonnyville Voyageurs have earned one victory on Sept. 24, against the Wainwright Commandos, who are currently positioned at the bottom of the league.

After this Friday’s game in Lloydminster, the team will travel to Lloydminster on Oct. 21 to play in the league’s quarterfinals.

The Wheatland Football League’s current standings heading into the regular season's final game are as follows: Holy Rosary Raiders in first place, followed by the St. Paul Lions, Lloydminster Comp. Barons, Cold Lake Royals, Bonnyville Voyageurs and the Wainwright Commandos.
