The St. Paul Barracuda’s Swim Club held its fall swim meet on Nov. 27, seeing around 80 young swimmers dive into the pool for a number of different events.

“This is the first 2013 swim meet where all our swimmers challenge themselves to swim better and faster each year,” Shiela Hatch, St. Paul Barracudas’ publicity coordinator, told The Journal in an email. “Approximately 80 swimmers were in attendance and participated in different heats highlighting each swim style of front and back crawl, butterfly and breast stroke.”

Hatch added that a number of parent volunteers were on hand to record the times of each swimmer and hand out ribbons. Swimmers were also allowed the opportunity to compare this year’s results to their previous times.

“Barracudas are able to see how well they are doing compared to their last year swim times and will also be able to see their improvements when they attend their next in house swim meet in March,” she said.

Hatch also said that there was a good crowd at the event, which provided a cheering section for everyone in the pool

“Swimmers were cheered on by coaches, parents and team mates as they all strived to do their best and push themselves,” she said. “It was a great event showcasing the swimmers’ amazing abilities.”
