“We ended up with 10 teams on Saturday and did a round robin play with two pools of five,” says Courtney Hebert, one of the organizers of the tournament with the County of St. Paul and Elk Point FCSS department. “The top two teams from each pool then advanced to a semi final.”

“Overall, the tournament ran smoothly and it turned out to be a beautiful day! We had a pretty good crowd watching during round robin, which was great to see,” says Hebert, adding, “Not only were the teams competitive, but there was a great display of sportsmanship and camaraderie as well.”

The competition was close over the day on Saturday, and in the B pool, there was a three-way tie for second.

After semi-finals, successful teams moved on to the finals.

The team named “Matthew Delladova's Down Under Department of Determined Defense and Delicately Crafted Facial Hair” took first place after beating Smokin' Trees and Strokin' 3s” by less than five baskets in the final.

The players on the gold medal team were: Nick Lupul, Brad Dubrule, Tim Penner and Jeff Hatch.

Rich Lake's “Big Ballers” defeated the “Tipi Ballers” in the bronze medal game.
