Bonnyville Centralized High School's boys and girls teams traveled to St. Paul Saturday for the 3A zone championships. The senior boys team had a great tournament, winning the zone, beating Lac La Biche in the final.

With the tournament win, the boys will be heading off to provincials next weekend. This is the first time in over 10 years that a senior boys team from BCHS has advanced to provincials.

Head coach Julie Beck said she was very proud of the whole team and that the boys were incredibly enthusiastic about winning zones and are "pumped" to be heading to provincials.

On the girls side, the senior girls team played very well but were unable to get the critical wins it needed to advance. The team finished fourth in the tournament standings. Cold Lake won the girls zones to advance to provincials.

The senior boys will head off to Westlock next weekend for the provincial championships. The team is currently looking for sponsorship to help offset some of the costs associated with advancing to provincials.
