The Centennial Centre was buzzing Friday and Saturday and it wasn't because the Pontiacs were playing. The C2 Fieldhouse played host to Bonnyville Centralized High School's volleyball tournament. Eight boys teams and ten girls teams attended the tournament and by all accounts it was a great success.

“Everyone really likes the facility,” said the BCHS boys' coach Julie Beck. She went on to say that the teams were really happy with the organization of the tournament and that several coaches had compliments for the C2 and its staff.

Beck was not as impressed with the play of her team. “The boy's have the ability to win this tournament, but they didn't play they best.”

The boys did play hard in their final two matches, but they just could not pull out the victories. In the semi-finals the boys could not match the number one ranked St. Joe's, losing in two sets, which sent them to the bronze medal game.

The match was much closer against Plamondon. BCHS won the first set, before losing the second 25-21. The third set came down to the wire as BCHS could complete the comeback after being down 13-6, eventually losing 17-15, for a fourth place finish.

The girls team had some early success, advancing to the quarterfinals. However, they would lose in a heartbreaker to Boyle, putting them out of the running. The girls lost the first set to Boyle. But the in second set, if they were going to go down, they were going down fighting. The set went back and forth, with neither team getting too far ahead. With a few key blocks, BCHS had the set tied at 25. But they were unable to get the next two points, losing the set and the match to Boyle.
