ST. PAUL - The St. Paul Jr. Canadiens continue to hold on to first place in the North Eastern Alberta Jr. B Hockey League (NEAJBHL).
The Canadiens played two home games over the weekend, first welcoming the Lloydminster Bandits to the Clancy Richard Arena on Dec. 2. The game required an extra period of overtime, where the Bandits capitalized and won 4-3, giving the Canadiens their second overtime loss of the season.
On Sunday night, the Canadiens took on the Killam Wheat Kings, winning 4-2, and adding a couple more points to their record.
The Canadiens have 28 points after 17 games played this season. The Vermilion Tigers are in second place in the NEAJBHL, following by the Wainwright Bisons. The Wheat Kings take up the fourth place, followed by the Bandits in fifth.
In sixth place is the Cold Lake Ice, and in seventh is the Vegreville Rangers. Sitting in eighth place in the eight-team league is the Onion Lake Border Chiefs.
The Canadiens will play at home Friday night against the second-place Vermilion Tigers. The puck is set to drop at 8 p.m.
The team will have a handful of home games ahead of the Christmas break, playing at home on Dec. 16 against the Ranger, and on Dec. 20 the Canadiens will take on the Ice, wrapping up 2022.
