Junior SPAA curling sees smaller competition for 2022

ST. PAUL - St. Paul's Racette Jr. High School claimed the only 2022 Junior St. Paul Athletics Association (SPAA) banner handed out in curling this season.

The SPAA event included only a girls' side on Friday, with three teams taking part - Racette Jr. HIgh, Glen Avon School, and New Myrnam School.

A smaller event was likely the result of smaller communities in the area deciding not to operate their curling clubs this season, according to organizers. But, it was still nice to see some junior high curling take place, said one of the Racette coaches, Stacey Hlushak.

The event wraps up the school curling season for junior high curlers.
