Lakeland teams compete at Camrose Night Classic

Lakeland soccer teams compete at Camrose Night Classic.

LAKELAND - During the first weekend of June, soccer teams from across the Lakeland region travelled to Camrose to take part in a long-running tradition - the Camrose Night Classic Tournament.

The U13 boys team made up of players from Bonnyville and Lac La Biche came out with a silver medal finish, and the U15 girls Bonnyville-Lac La Biche United team came home with gold. The tournament also included some U11 categories.

In the older age groups, the 'Lakeland' U17 boys' team managed to take gold at the Camrose tournament, while the U17 girls from St. Paul grabbed bronze medals.

Teams from across the Lakeland District Soccer Association took part in the tournament, which for some age groups includes games played through the night and into the early morning hours.

Lakeland Cup tournaments for U15 and U19 age groups will take place this weekend in Cold Lake, while the U13 and U17 age groups will gather the following weekend in Vegreville.
