Lakeland Yellowjackets set personal bests and shine at indoor track meets

The Bonnyville based Lakeland Yellowjackets track and field club is having a strong indoor season, with some athletes bringing home medals from the most recent competition held in Edmonton, Feb. 3 and 4.

BONNYVILLE - The Bonnyville based Lakeland Yellowjackets track and field club is having a strong indoor season, with some athletes bringing home medals from the most recent competition held in Edmonton, Feb. 3 and 4.

Competing at the Alberta Indoor Games, Connor Woods took first place in U16 weight throw, with a distance of 16.98 metres. Kailey McInnes competed in the U18 category and came in second in shot put (10.37) and second in weight throw (11.81).

"Most kids have set personal bests this year and have represented themselves and the community very well," says Larry Godziuk, coach with the club.

Connor Woods - U16 - 1st Weight Throw (18.36m) and 1st in Shot Put (11.58m)

Jan 20/21 - Golden Bear Open - (Edmonton)

Brandy Boisvert - U18: 6th in 1,000 metre, and 6th in 1,500 metre

Connor Woods - U16 - 1st Shot Put (11.51m) and 1st in Weight Throw (18.15m)

Feb 3 and 4 - Alberta Indoor Games (Edmonton)

Kamden Scott U14 - 13th Tetrathlon (60m, Long Jump, Shot Put, 600m)

Jersey Hollingshead U20 - 8th in 300m (47.32 s) and 5th in 600 (1:47.37)

Gabby Gratton U18 - 8th in Weight Throw and 9th in Shot Put (this was her first track meet)
