Planning is underway for this year's Lakeland Senior Games that will be hosted in Lac La Biche. The Lakeland Senior Games Association is getting ready for the three days packed full of sporting events and other activities that will take place August 14-16. This year, the sports will include floor curling, bowling, cribbage, slo-pitch, snooker, golf, horseshoes and shuffleboard.

And although the games have been confirmed, there are still some funding issues that have to be resolved, says Anne Lemay, chair of the Lakeland Senior Games Association. "We're still trying to fundraise,” Lemay said. "And still waiting to get more money.” But she says that Lac La Biche County has been helping out a lot, and there's no doubt that the games will be held. "We're getting a lot of support from the county,” Lemay said. "And we're having the games.” The games are open to anyone over the age of 50, and the association is expecting about 400 participants from Ardmore to Wainwright. For more information about the games, call Lemay at 780-623-4787.
