Locals to represent at badminton provincials

Badminton zones took place this past Monday in Cold Lake as a qualifier for provincials, which take place May 6-7 in Strathmore, Alberta.

The boys advanced through both districts and zones this past week and will compete at provincials this weekend in Strathmore.

Badminton zones took place this past Monday in Cold Lake as a qualifier for provincials, which take place May 6-7 in Strathmore, Alberta.

Four players from local schools will represent the Lakeland area at the Alberta Schools' Athletic Association 2011 Provincial Championships.

Darcy Kwiatkowski won gold in intermediate girls singles and Dana White took silver in senior boys singles at zones and will represent Glendon School at provincials.

Notre Dame High School will send junior boys doubles zone champions Steenn Pasichnuk and Mitchell Hebert to provincials.

Bonnyville Centralized High School will not be sending a representative to provincials, but the school did pick up a couple medals at zones.

Randy Erickson and Katie Davis picked up bronze in mixed intermediate doubles, while Luz Dagman also took home a bronze medal for her efforts in junior girls singles.
