The Rodeo Mile will be taking place on Aug. 30 ahead of the rodeo parade in St. Paul.

ST. PAUL - There are still a few days to sign up for one of St. Paul's annual traditions during rodeo week - the Rodeo Mile.

The one-mile race, or quarter-mile for younger participants, has been taking place before the Saturday morning rodeo parade for many years. The event took a bit of a break for a few years, but has returned to the line-up thanks to the St. Paul Regional High School Athletic Parents Association (APA).

The Rodeo Mile, once organized by the North East Alberta Track Club (NEAT), is now a fundraiser for the SPRHS athletics programs.

The race will take place on Aug. 30. The quarter-mile race will start at 9:40 a.m. in front of Ideal Carpets, on main street, and is meant as a way for younger children to get involved in the sport of running.

The one-mile race will begin at 10 a.m. in front of Bumper to Bumper, which is also located on main street

"We look forward to welcoming participants again this year," said Melissa Mahe, one of the organizers involved in the race.

To register, participants must complete a registration form and submit payment via e-transfer. Registration fees are $20 for the quarter-mile and $30 for the one-mile race. Pre-registration is required and the deadline is Friday, Aug. 29.
