It was the Sharks versus the Sharks this past week. And not surprisingly, the Sharks prevailed.

The U18 Lakeland Sharks club volleyball team defeated the U16 Sharks four sets to one, in a friendly match at Notre Dame High School on April 27.

The game was a warm-up for both teams as they head into provincials.

“It's good to get some actual competition in between tournaments,” said U16 Sharks coach Tyler Collins.

He said it is hard to find teams to play in the area, so this was the next best thing.

“Anytime you can get some game action, it's good for the teams.”

The U18 Sharks dominated the first set of the match, winning 25-13. The U16 Sharks responded with a 25-22 victory in the second set.

The final three sets went to the U18 Sharks, 25-10, 25-18 and 25-21.

The U16 Sharks will head to Sherwood Park May 7-8 for provincials, while the U18 squad took part in provincials this past weekend in Calgary.
