We are starting another year of curling on Oct. 22 but this year, we have a twist for the beginning of the year. We have implemented a new format for any teams wanting to enter the super league. The new format works this way: teams that are wanting to join the league can enter and the weekend before we start, we are going to have a playoff with any new teams against the two teams that finished at the bottom of the standings from the previous year. We have done this to allow new teams in the league and to keep the competition as strong as possible in the league. This new format makes every team strive to finish as high as possible, so as to avoid the last two positions and possibly be forced into a playoff.
We have already seen in the past year how the skill level of the league has been raised and had one of the closest leadership races that the club has seen in many years. That being said, we are all looking forward to the new season and having this playoff at the start to keep the super league as the best curling we have in town.
