The fourth annual Tee Off MS charity golf tournament was a sold out affair with 36 teams entered in the Aug. 16 event at the St. Paul Golf Course.
According to Lakeland Regional Office Manager for the MS Society Brenda Rosychuk, who helped organize the tournament, the preliminary total for the day was “just over $30,000 raised.” More than half of that came in through the live auction following the tournament.
“There was a custom made crib board made by Dave Amyotte at A Amyotte & Sons welding that was bought and donated back three times totalling $4,350, and also another item, a brewmaster package, donated by Lakeland Brewing Company went twice totalling $8,050,” said Rosychuk.
She said “knowing that the funds are going back to increasing the quality of life of those living with and affected by MS as well as in innovative research that takes place right here in Alberta was well worth the weather Mother Nature gave us on Friday.”
The weather throughout the day was at best cold and windy, and at worst cold, windy, and rainy with a high of just 16 degrees Celsius by the end of the day.
Another organizer, Corinne Lotoski, said she was amazed by the turnout.
“Once again, the Lakeland has proven to be generous beyond words. It was an amazing and emotional day that I am truly grateful for and proud to be part of,” said Lotoski, thanking all the sponsors, volunteers and golfers who made the tournament possible.
