Track and field jumps into high gear

Wards go this week in Lac La Biche, Districts in Bonnyville next week

LAC LA BICHE - Aurora Middle School students from Grade 4-8 were running and jumping for ribbons, spots at the upcoming Ward event, and for fun, during the three-day track and field events held through the week.

Students participated in high jump, long jump, triple jump, javelin, shot-put and hurdles at the Aurora Middle School playing fields and the Bold Center Sports Fields running track on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Aurora phys. ed teacher Wayne Mah said hundreds of the school's young athletes competed during the meet events, with the top performers moving on to face students from middle schools across the region in the coming week.

Wards and Districts

"Only the top three of an event from our (Aurora) track and field will go to the 2022 LSAA West track and field Wards," he said.

The Lakeland Schools Athletic Association Wards will be hosted in Lac La Biche at the Bold Center Sports Fields on Thursday, May 26.

The top two young athletes from each event at Wards will advance to the District track and field championships held in Bonnyville on May 31.
