The Bonnyville Voyageurs faced a tough St. Paul Lions football team for the second week in a row and again came out on the losing end of the game.

The Voyageurs put up a good fight but came up short, falling to the Lions by a score of 54-29 this past Friday in St. Paul.

Bonnyville was led on offence by wide receiver/halfback Devon Edmunds, wh scored all four touchdowns for the Voyageurs, including a 60-yard touchdown run.

Edmunds also put up a 25-yard run and two 55-yard runs for touchdowns.

Bonnyville coach Baz Churko said, "The boys played well and they definitely picked it up late in the game. The score doesn't really show you what they boys did on the field. They kind of slept through the third quarter but they really picked it up in the fourth and we had a good time."

Edmunds commended his teammates for their work on the field. “It's really tough out there,” he said. “My boys were trying, they got me through, they were opening up the gaps for me. It's not a one-man effort. (St. Paul) played tough, they're a strong team and got some great running. They should go far.”

With the win, the Lions now sit with a record of 5-0. The team has also been dominating its opponents on the scoreboard, racking up 261 points to its opponents' 115, for a 146-point differential.

Since a dramatic 10-9 victory over Cold Lake in week one of the season, the Voyageurs have now dropped four in a row, but will look to bounce back this Thursday against the Royals in Cold Lake.

The following week, Bonnyville will play its final game of the regular season in front of the home crowd against the Wainwright Commandos.
