Local sport enthusiasts Neil Langridge, Joel Bourget and Brian Krawchuk have executed a maneuver on the water most would not even think to try.

The boys, all former Cold Lake Jr. B Ice players, took to the warm waters of Moose Lake last summer and pulled off the three person waterski pyramid.

Not only did they accomplish what they set out to do, they were also financially rewarded for it and may be in line to win even more.

After having captured the feat on video, they then sent it in to TSN's Advil Highlight of the Month contest and were selected as one of the 10 finalist, with a chance to win $25,000 if selected as the top highlight.

Langridge said the video actually sat around since summer and they just happen to think of sending it in to TSN as the January deadline for the contest quickly approached.

A few weeks later Langridge received a call notifying him and his friends they'd been selected for the final spot in the top ten and awarded $1,000.

After realizing they could now possibly win a significant sum of cash, they contacted Curtis Hargrove, a long-distance runner and fundraiser from Cold Lake.

They teamed up with Hargrove, agreeing to donate $5,000 of the grand prize to Hargrove, who would then donate it to the Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton.

But in order to win, they need votes from the public. Langridge encouraged everyone to “check out the video” and support them with a vote.

The video can be viewed at http://advil.tsn.ca/en/default.aspx.

Voting also takes place on the same webpage.

Langridge said he and his friends spend a lot of time at the lake during the summer but had never tried something like this.

“We checked out a few YouTube videos of waterski pyramids and we went out and tried it. Next thing you know, we pulled it off.”

Langridge said they were excited to hear they had been selected as a finalist, but said it would be even more rewarding to help out the Stollery and Hargrove, who “has done so much for the Lakeland and all of Canada.”
