TORONTO — Prince Edward Island is Canada's smallest province but has the country's highest number of job postings per capita, according to an analysis from Top Data.
The analytics firm says data collected from job website Indeed.com found that P.E.I. had 1,161 job postings per 10,000 people as of July 13.
That was well ahead of the provincial per capita rates in Nova Scotia (741 per 10,000) and Ontario (643 per 10,000), which ranked second and third nationally.
At the bottom of the per capita ratings were Newfoundland and Labrador (40 per 10,000), Saskatchewan (61 per 10,000) and Manitoba (81 per 10,000).
In terms of total numbers of postings, Ontario (69,165), Quebec (52,452) and British Columbia (36,328) had the most — reflecting the size of their respective provincial populations.
By comparison, P.E.I. had only 650 total job postings — the least of any province in the report.
The report did not include job postings from Yukon, Northwest Territories or Nunavut.
