TORONTO — The Scarborough Shooting Stars of the Canadian Elite Basketball League have signed former Toronto Raptor Jalen Harris to a contract for the 2022 season.

The guard, taken in the second round (59th overall) by the Raptors in 2020, made 13 regular-season appearances with Toronto as a rookie in 2020-21, averaging 7.4 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists.

He also played seven regular-season games with Toronto's G League affiliate, Raptors 905, and put up 17.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists per outing.

But Harris was "dismissed and disqualified'' from the NBA last July for violating terms of the NBA/NBPA anti-drug program.

Most recently he played in Italy for Vanoli Cremona, where in 18 games the six-foot-five guard averaged 13.8 points, three rebounds and two assists per game.

The expansion Shooting Stars, whose roster includes 37-year-old rap star J Cole, open CEBL play Thursday on the road against the Guelph Nighthawks.
