Flint Firebirds outlast Kitchener Rangers 8-7 in OT win

FLINT, Mich. — The Flint Firebirds needed overtime to overcome the Kitchener Rangers in a high-scoring encounter.

Firebirds' Brennan Othmann netted the overtime winner as Flint (24-14-0-2) won 8-7.

Mike Petizian finished with two goals and an assist for the Rangers (16-19-1-1).

OTTERS 7, ATTACK 4

ERIE, Ont. - The Erie Otters grabbed four goals in the final frame as they beat the Owen Sound Attack on Wednesday night.

The Otters (15-19-1-2) had six different scorers in the win, with Christian Kyrou netting two.

It was the Attack's (19-17-1-2) second straight loss.

KINGSTON, Ont. - Jax Dubois had the game-winner as the Peterborough Petes beat the Kingston Frontenacs on Wednesday night.

Joe Carrol had the insurance goal for the Petes (14-24-2-0).

Francesco Arcuri had the consolation goal for Kingston (24-11-3-0).

SARNIA, Ont. - Ben McFarlane netted two goals as the Guelph Storm hammered the Sarnia Sting 6-1.

Netminder Jacob Oster stopped 26 of 27 shots for the Storm (19-15-2-1) as they snapped their losing streak.

Left-winger Nolan Dann netted the consolation goal for the Sting (15-16-3-1).

KNIGHTS 5, SPIRIT 3

SAGINAW, Mich. - A dominant third period lifted the London Knights to a 5-3 win over the Saginaw Spirit.

The Knights (24-10-1-0) outshot their opponents 17-8 in the final frame, scoring four times.

Defenceman Mitchell Smith had two goals in the losing effort for the Spirit (16-23-1-0).
