WHITEHORSE — Mounties in Whitehorse say a nine-year-old girl returned home shortly after police received a report that she may have been abducted.
A statement from the RCMP says the girl was reported missing just before 10 p.m. on Sunday.
Police say they immediately launched a missing person investigation and sent resources to the Porter Creek subdivision where the girl was last seen.
They say officers were going door-to-door and the search involved a police dog, but the child returned home about an hour later.
RCMP say officers with the Whitehorse detachment are investigating the situation with the help of the Mounties' specialized response and major crime units.
Police are still looking to speak with any witnesses and gather any video footage from the area shot between the hours of 8 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on Sunday.
