LoAnne Katherine Shiers aged 46 years of Elk Point, AB, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 17th, after a long battle with metastatic ovarian cancer. LoAnne was born in Windsor Nova Scotia, grew up in Moose Jaw SK and after graduating from Lakeland College in Vermilion made a wonderful life in Elk Point. She touched the lives of so many but her greatest joy was her daughter Ella. It was Ella who inspired LoAnne to found the Elk Point Theatre Project for kids. Along with the incredible support of parents and volunteers they produced full staged musicals from 2015 to 2019 (Little Mermaid, Annie Jr,Wizard of Oz, Spamalot and Seussical the Musical) and there had been great plans to produce Into the Woods before the pandemic LoAnne loved all animals, she even traveled toThailand to volunteer at an Elephant Sanctuary. She was a compassionate, fun-loving, and kind person.Thank you to all her friends, family, doctors, hospital staff and nurses for your kindness and support for her and Ella.A Celebration of LoAnne’s life was held on Sunday, May 29th, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in Elk Point at the Elk Point Allied Arts and Leisure Center. In lieu of flowers, donations in LoAnne’s memory may be made to the Bonnyville SPCA (www.bonnyvillespca.com)or to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Memento Funeral Chapel.
