A few minutes for Remembrance

We owe our soldiers more than just a minute of silence on Nov. 11. We owe them our freedom, our lives, our right to vote and our democratic society.

We owe our soldiers more than just a minute of silence on Nov. 11.

We owe them our freedom, our lives, our right to vote and our democratic society. Every time we exercise our freedom of speech, every time we have our own ideas and don't have to worry we will be persecuted for them, every time we can make decisions on how we want to live our lives, we owe a soldier who made the decision to risk his or her life for our freedom.

One day out of every 365 days, we are asked to make a choice between doing what we would normally do that morning or taking time our of our lives to remember the decisions and sacrifices our soldiers have made and continue to make to protect that freedom of choice.

On Nov. 11, choose to remember the dedication, perseverance and sacrifice of our soldiers. They didn't ask for much in return, and a few minutes of silence isn't too much to give.

The Bonnyville Remembrance Day will be held at the Centennial Centre on Sunday and organizers request those in attendance to be seated by 10 a.m.
