The Alberta election is a question of trust.
If life hands you a lemon … make lemonade!
At a time when many Albertans are facing life altering challenges, the result of a significant collapse of an economy dependent on revenues generated by a non-renewable resource, the PC party has deemed it prudent to call a totally unnecessary election.
Using the feeble excuse that a caucus of seventy members was not sufficient nor capable of implementing its budget simply reminds us that the PC government suffers from a severe case of “brain-warp.&”
Since the majority of the current caucus is seeking re-election, we should be alerted to the fact that the condition cited above will not be cured, but in fact may even become more severe should they be returned to the Alberta Legislature.
Some of the electorate may not be familiar with “brain-warp.&” It is a condition which occurs when the brain gene pool becomes stagnant. Most human deficiencies need a culture to allow their development. Forty-three plus years of PC domination politically in Alberta has most certainly provided an excellent culture for the growth of “brain-warp&”.
Some readers of my thesis may think it is all a spoof. I offer the following questions in support of my thesis and for your consideration when you cast your vote in this election.
Why do we not have a diversified economy?
Why hasn't the Royalty Structure been changed to help stabilize our economy and provide the funds needed to support initiatives for Albertans instead of giving free reign to foreign corporations?
Why wasn't the Heritage Fund strengthened in the recent decade of economic boom?
Why did Alberta have seven straight budget deficits during an extended economic boom?
Why did it take 43 years to develop a 10-year vision for Alberta?
Why has the government failed to recognize that an economic boom seriously brings senior Albertans living on fixed incomes closer to life below the poverty line?
Why have rural Albertans since 1993 been denied a direct non-partisan voice in the delivery of local health services?
Why has so many billions been squandered in on-going failed experiments in the administration of Alberta Health Services?
Why was an election called now when it is the PC government who wrote the law that it should be next year?
Why has the lack of planning for the growth of population over the last 20 years resulted in the deficiencies in provincial and municipal infrastructures, schools and hospitals?
Unless we are prepared to cast a meaningful vote in this election, nothing will change! Every Albertan has a voice that can bring about change. Not casting your vote only helps to assure that the same old same old continues.
