It was the week before Christmas and at the Nouvelle,
There wasn't a sound, not a whisper or yell,
Reporters were busy, writing columns with flair,
While production was really too busy to care.
There were pages to lay out and stories to write,
We'll likely be here from morning through night.
Will it be a white Christmas? It's too soon to tell,
It's been so long since a single flake fell,
But whether we're ready or whether we're not,
It's time to wrap up the presents we've bought.
Our trees are all done up and ready to glow,
Our families are waiting, it's nearly time to go.
Just one more ad, Tamie says with a smile,
Brandon's been writing, busy all the while.
Susan is quiet, there's work to be done,
No time for talking or time to have fun.
Where has the Christmas spirit gone, we cry,
Why hasn't Santa visited you or I?
We've worked and we've worked all the way through,
To put together a weekly newspaper for you,
And now here we sit, discouraged and sad,
If only we'd gotten some sleep, we'd be glad.
There's no time for sleeping in the holiday hurry,
Where all we can do is shop, work, and scurry,
Pour a glass of wine, eggnog, or beer
Time to go home to holiday cheer!
