Congratulations to Norm Noel for winning a majority of votes in the Town of St. Paul byelection on Thursday. Noel will fill the vacant councillor’s seat and will be a welcome addition to the council table.
Noel deserved the win with a humble and hard working approach to the campaign. He made the effort to visit as many people in their homes as possible and did not pass off the responsibility onto anyone else. Helped by his Grade 6 daughter, Noel worked hard for the win and it showed at the ballot box. Winning a majority of votes with four candidates in the ring is a great accomplishment.
Noel opened his campaign with a message of improving communications, listening to concerns and speaking honestly to voters. Noel’s message and strategy proved to be a winning combination to seize 51 per cent of 752 votes cast. With three other candidates vying for the seat on council, that Noel managed to get a majority speaks to his integrity and appeal as a candidate.
The byelection provided a great forum for conversation and debate on some of the main issues council is facing. With Noel’s win, the vote indicates the direction the majority of voters want to see the town go.
