Dismayed with Sun Country eviction

To the editor,

I would like to express my dismay at what the Sun Country residents are going through, after reading the article on May 3 about the court order to evict them. My husband and I were looking for a home to buy a year and a half ago. We almost bought a mobile home in Sun Country. It was in excellent shape, and was selling for a decent price. We had also met several residents around there who all seemed like genuinely nice people, and we felt it would be a nice place to live.

We decided on a mobile in town instead, however, where we could own the land it was on. I’m relieved, seeing what the residents there are going through now, that we didn’t end up buying there. We don’t have a lot of money, but we have more than the Sun Country residents that are living on AISH and pensions, and I can’t imagine how we would scrounge up enough money to move our home and all of our belongings within 30 days. The amount of time they are being given is ridiculous, and cannot be right!

If this letter is read by anyone who has the power to give these residents more time, please do what you can! They don’t have anything to do with the previous land owner not paying his mortgage, and they don’t deserve to have their homes demolished!
