Dear Editor;
There has to be a special place in Hades for those pet owners who drive out to the countryside and abandon their pets. Abandoning an animal is one of the most irresponsible, reprehensible and barbaric actions a pet owner can do.
These trusting pets look to the owner for food, shelter, care and attention and get betrayed in the worst possible way when they get tossed from a vehicle and are left to fend for themselves.
Recently, a half-grown, white and dark-gray male kitten ended up abandoned at our place just outside of Bonnyville. It was obvious he had been abandoned because there was evidence indicating it had once been wearing a collar and it was used to living in a house.
We had to listen to this poor kitten desperately meowing for the things it used to get from its thoughtless owner. Unfortunately, I am allergic to cats and cannot have them in our home.
Please, if you must get rid of a pet, do it in a responsible, humane way. Don't avoid your responsibility by passing your problems onto someone else.
