Great week to 'Go Country' at Showdown 2011

The week many have been waiting for is here: rodeo week. The Lakeland Rodeo Association finals are back in town and promise to offer the best in high-flying rodeo action and community fun Alberta has to offer.

The week many have been waiting for is here: rodeo week. The Lakeland Rodeo Association finals are back in town and promise to offer the best in high-flying rodeo action and community fun Alberta has to offer. From saddle bronc to tie down roping, barrel racing, bull riding and steer wrestling and other great rodeo events, for the thousands visiting St. Paul this weekend, it’s going to be a blast and a week to remember.

The rodeo is a great week that couldn’t go off without the strong support of the local business community and the leadership of the St. Paul Ag. Society. Add to that a strong base of volunteers, community organizations and rodeo fans and it’s a mix for a great week. We applaud the work of the Ag. Society and all the community volunteers for making the week a great success year after year – and can’t wait for the action to get underway.

The local appetite was whetted this weekend with gymkhana and speed penning, and the action promises to get more intense as the LRA finals get to town to decide just who are the Lakeland’s greatest cowboys and cowgirls this year. The talent of the riders will of course command the community’s respect, as does the ongoing agricultural community of stock breeders, feed and tack suppliers, which meet the needs of the great rodeo performers.

So this week, it’s a good idea to “go country” and support those who support the community by coming here or sponsoring the event to help make it happen. A tip of the cowboy hat to all involved.
