Lac La Biche POST cartoonist Patrick LaMontagne shows our readers how he creates a Groundhog Day cartoon in time for the Feb 2 annual calendar day prediction.
Winnipeg Willow has reportedly called her last Groundhog Day. The five year-old groundhog, who was orphaned as a baby and raised by staff at Manitoba's Prairie Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, reported died last Friday night.
Whether it's Willow in Winnipeg, Balzac Billy in Alberta, Wiarton Willy in Ontario Punxsutawney Phil south of the border, or Shubenacadie Sam in Nova Scotia, a little four-legged furry army of weather forecasters.
If a groundhog sees his shadow on Groundhog Day, we are in for six more weeks of cold winter weather. If he doesn't see his shadow, the warm temperatures are on their way.
Either way, rain or shine, hot or cold, our talented cartoonist will be drawing his creations for our readers on the pages of the Lac La Biche POST.
