Hoping Smith can fix the mess

To the Editor,

As a person who’s always lived in Alberta, I’ve been disappointed to see how much we’ve drifted away from what’s made us a strong province – limited government and balanced budgets. We all sacrificed in the 90s so that we wouldn’t leave our kids with a pile of debt. Now all that hard work has been undone by the PCs, who seem to think the best way to get reelected is to throw money at anything that moves.

We now have a large provincial debt again. And yet spending from the PCs keeps coming! On top of the big spending (and deficit) in last month’s budget, Alison Redford is announcing even more spending that wasn’t in the budget. Where do the PCs think we’re going to get all the money to pay for this? Or do they? Are we simply going to keep piling on the debt?

I don’t want my children and grandchildren to face an overwhelming burden of debt.

It’s not fair to them and it’s not fair to the people who sacrificed so much to get us out of debt in the first place. I’m hoping that Danielle Smith and the Wildrose Party can fix the mess and put us back on track before it’s too late.
