Is it spring yet?

Happy April, everyone! But does it really feel like April with the heaps of snow still lingering and the weather forecast predicting lows of below zero? This past weekend sure was promising, weather-wise.

Happy April, everyone! But does it really feel like April with the heaps of snow still lingering and the weather forecast predicting lows of below zero?

This past weekend sure was promising, weather-wise. Water, formally known as snow mounds, was trickling down the streets, the sun was shining and you could even get away with rolling your car windows down a bit.

But alas, like every other indication spring was coming to the Lakeland, it was a sense of false hope.

In an effort to fool Mother Nature and perhaps lift our readers' spirits on the prospect of spring, the Nouvelle suggests a few simple strategies on how you can make it feel like it's spring, even if it is not.

Break out those spring clothes. Just go nuts and wear a pair of shorts, even if it's just inside your home.

Drive with your windows open. You might have to turn the heat on, but imagine there's a nice, fresh spring breeze caressing your face as you cruise along the streets, bordered by snowbanks.

Fire up the barbecue and sip on a classic summer cocktail, even if you have to wear gloves.

Start working on your golf swing, even if you have to use a coloured ball so it doesn't get lost in a snow mound.

Suddenly start working on your New Year's resolution to look good in that swimsuit. And if swimsuit season never comes you'll still feel good, even if your figure is hidden under a parka.

And the last piece of valuable advice we can give you is, before you step outside in the morning, close your eyes and wish really hard for spring.

Who knows? You might actually get lucky when you open them.
