Minister Ray Danyluk has recently blamed the federal government for not finding full funding for the proposed medical centre in St. Paul. To be clear, health care is fully within provincial responsibility.

It must be questioned why Minister Danyluk is inviting the federal government to intrude on provincial jurisdiction. And I wish I could say that I am surprised that the provincial government and Minister Danyluk would abdicate their role in providing quality health care in St. Paul, but we have seen that the PC government has been in complete disarray on health care over the past few years. A Wildrose government will recognize the very basic position that the province is responsible for the delivery of health care.

The PC government is spending over $1.4 billion on capital health projects across the province and Minister Danyluk is suggesting this project in our area be delayed because of a $1.5 million shortfall. He is simply passing the buck by saying it is within federal jurisdiction. If Danyluk really believes this medical centre is a priority for St. Paul, why isn’t he fighting for the full funding? I suggest that constituents pressure their MLA to simply do his job and secure the outstanding resources.
