It's the home stretch for the newsroom's “Movember” campaign as the month is about to come to a close.
It's been an interesting month for the three of us, as we have all been able to grow varying degrees of moustaches. So far the editor, Brandon MacLeod, has the best lip sweater, with Mike Pickford and myself struggling to grow anything that remotely resembles a moustache.
It has been a fun month for me though as my moustache is about twice as good as it was last year, meaning that it is actually noticeable this time around.
In order to finish off the month strong I plan on doing variety of manly things in hopes of stimulating moustache growth. Things like eating a steak, drinking beer for breakfast, enjoying a scotch and a cigar, adding bacon to everything I eat, watching sports, building things with my bare hands and listening to classic rock.
As of Nov. 25, our team had raised $125, which is bottom of the pack compared to the rest of the moustache growing teams in town.
There are four other teams in Bonnyville, with members who have donned moustaches this month and raised money for men's health awareness. Bonnyville Dodge, the Bonnyville Jr. A Pontiacs, Bonnyville Welding and Quinn Bonnyville join the Nouvelle in supporting this great cause.
Kudos to those teams, their members, and the many others who have supported them throughout the month. It is great to see other people in town participating and donating to this great cause.
These four teams along with the Nouvelle have combined to raise $5,354 for this campaign. The Pontiacs lead the way with $2,840 and an honorable mention goes out to the group from Bonnyville Wielding having raised $1,744.
All of the members of these teams will be entering the stretch drive of the month-long fundraising campaign. To me it doesn't matter whom you donate to because all of the money raised goes to a great cause.
Canada has been the leading country in money raised throughout the past two years of Movember; raising vital funds and awareness to combat prostate and testicular cancer and mental health challenges.
For anyone who has yet to donate, I urge you to go to the official Movember website pick a Bonnyville team (hopefully it's the Nouvelle's page) and donate a couple of bucks.
