After much anticipation, Bonnyville's very first Oil and Gas Show is finally here.

A lot of work has gone into preparing to showcase the region's petroleum industry and all local residents should take the time to check out this major event. The fact that our region is able to attract so many vendors to the show from all over the country and host a show this size, speaks volumes to the region's reputation and anticipated growth.

The show gives companies and employers the opportunity to promote themselves and showcase the work they do, while providing job-seekers with the chance to peruse what industry in the region has to offer.

Other industries are also directly and indirectly impacted by the success of the local oil and gas sector and will surely benefit from this week's show and promotion of the region.

The show is guaranteed to be a financial success before it begins as all 53 outdoor booths were sold out by the end of March and all of the 162 indoor booths have now been purchased.

As well, all sponsorship packages to promote and support the Oil and Gas Show sold quickly.

“The amount of community support and energy surrounding this show has been phenomenal,” said Robyn Ducharme, vice-president of the Bonnyville and District Chamber of Commerce and Oil and Gas Show committee. “We're thrilled with the response being a first-time event and are very confident people are going to be impressed.”

The event kicks off Tuesday night with a private barbecue at the Shaw House, where all exhibitors, sponsors and a large list of dignitaries and invited guests will gather.

The 25-member Oil and Gas Show committee has worked so hard to put this show together and volunteers have also given their time to help produce an event that is going to become a mainstay in this community for years to come, Tanya Oliver, president of the chamber's Oil and Gas Show Committee told the Nouvelle.

“We can't wait to get started because we think we have everything in place to ensure the show is going to be a huge success,” she said. “The committee and volunteers have done a tremendous job and we can't wait to get started.”

The show will run Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

With the inaugural show already sold out, the chamber has already started preparations for the next show in 2013.
