There’s too much AI-generated junk.
From Youtube, Reddit, Facebook, Tiktok, or wherever else.
You’ve probably seen it. The voice is flat. The script is off. The titles are weird. And yet, somehow, they keep showing up.
You didn’t ask for this. No one did. But the algorithm insists: this is what you crave.
And people eat it up. It’s fast. It’s cheap. It’s everywhere.
One good example are those “HFY” channels in Youtube. HFY stands for Humanity, F** Yeah! They're sci-fi stories about humans outsmarting aliens. That's the gist, I suppose. They’re more of a positive spin of humanity’s progress and future.
HFY stories were great. They used to be great. Wildly creative, thoughtful, and even funny.
But lately, many are clearly just AI scripts read by text-to-speech voices with AI-generated footage in the background. They feel like someone asked ChatGPT to, “Tell me a story,” and forgot to say, “Make it good.”
They suck, but you see people complimenting them with, “Great story! Great job! Nice writing!”
And that’s the real problem. People can't tell the difference.
But people should enjoy whatever content they want, right? I mean, we shouldn’t judge how people should spend their time, right?
Absolutely. We shouldn’t. But people shouldn’t also be at the liberty to complain about the downgrade in the quality of content in whatever form of media they frequent in, if they themselves are part of the problem.
And this honestly is the point of this rant. People complain about low-quality content, when most of them are complaining about trashy AI-generated content. That’s ultimately not an algorithmic problem, though, because your feed reflects your content history.
You watch trash. You get fed trash.
It’s okay if you enjoy it, just don’t be a hypocrite about it.
I’m not saying turn off the internet and go live in a tree. But maybe think twice before giving another AI channel a view.
I feel like what some people fail to realize is that the internet demands their time and attention. And the difference between AI and real creators? Real creators respect people’s time.
