In the report in the Dec. 16th issue of the Journal regarding photo radar, a couple comments really stand out and need to be looked at anew.
1. The comment that only 725 people (of which approximately 675 were deemed acceptable) is an insignificant number in a community of almost 6,000 is most ignorant as we were only able to have those who qualify as electors sign the petition. I remind the councillors that perhaps they should compare the petition number to the number of votes they garnered during the last municipal election.
2. Coun. Ken Kwiatkowski reiterated that what they did was right! Why then do we as taxpayers have to go through the FOIP process in order to get the information about what it is that the council did? Nothing to hide… then why not share it with us completely?
3. Consultation goes far beyond putting a series of ads in the local paper which state that as of such and such a date photo radar will be implemented in the community… communicating a predetermined action is not “consulting.”
