Where am I? What day is it? It could be any place. It could be any time. I'm told it's Tuesday and I'm in Such-and-Such-Town. I'm not really convinced. Who's in charge here anyway? They've all become latent thoughts ever since that day.
Yet, somehow, someway, I've found my way back to some sacred place. Somewhat safe, somewhat sound – it's all one can ask for in someone else's hometown.
There are rights of passage embedded in every lifetime. It's in all of us, the right to pass freely into the sublime. And onto it we go. Where we stop, nobody knows.
The previous message was brought to you by Brandon's Random Prose Club – for more things as such and all the like, just stay tuned in to things like life.
As though this is an important announcement and requires some newspaper space, I'm writing to warn the public I've returned to the Nouvelle, I'm back in my place. I'm here, once again, staying hip to the happenings of Bonnyville and beyond and to get reacquainted with old friends.
I've been on this life-journey now for nearly 236,000 hours. Over the past few, things have been slowly sinking back into place. Back at the office, back in my chair, back at the games and the work and most importantly, re-conforming my hair.
Thanks to the acceptance of the company I work for and the creativity of the bosses that oversee me, I was able to escape the hustle and bustle and high-paced lifestyle that is Alberta in the northeast. What went on while I was gone would take much more word space than I've been offered here today – and I'll be the first to admit, this probably is not the right time, nor the right space.
However, if there's one thing worth noting about my time away, it's the appreciation I gained. Appreciation for the most magnificent mountains scenes down to a simple warm shower, for the most captivating contemplations on to the most mindless and mundane. Appreciation for my work is much the same.
It can be tough to justify the job when it seems to only provide for the cause. But back in Bonnyville, back at the paper, it's much more than that. I get a little piece of mind and a little cash, while all the while giving something back, providing the community a little mental labour, some weekly thought-filled snacks.
So with all that said and done, here's to being back in Bonnyville and hoping for a lot of fun. And I'm happy to say, send your ideas, your thoughts and your concerns my way. Oh, and have a great day!
