The editorial in the April 18th edition of the LLB Post on the topic of split mill rate was quite interesting. Again it clarifies my position in past letters of how the loss of the air weapons range was a bad deal.
The editorial in the April 18th edition of the LLB Post on the topic of split mill rate was quite interesting. Again it clarifies my position in past letters of how the loss of the air weapons range was a bad deal. An interesting demon has come out of the woodwork in that this split mill rate is finished in 2017 not in perpetuity as we were lead to believe. What does this mean to the rate payers? I will tell you, it means a huge increase in your municipal portion of taxes because all rate payers will be taxed at the industrial level. Industry pays approximately 85 % of the tax bill, so in reality county council cannot decrease the mill rate to meet budget requirements. This means the 15% home and small business rate must go up. This is what your PC government has done to you, the rate payers of LLB County. The loss of the air weapons range in revenue and the gain in revenue from the added assessment given to replace the loss of air weapons range assessment is approximately a loss of 30 million dollars in revenue to LLB county. It has to be replaced somehow. MJ, as to our conversation years ago in which your contacts in municipal affairs told you this was a good deal, where are they now? I hope you can explain this to the rate payers. You will lose even the small advantage of the split mill rate, guaranteed, if the PCS are re-elected. To tell you the truth I’ ve had enough of the PC government screwing the LLB region! It started with ID18 and went downhill from there. I'm asking the LLB residents to get out and vote and send this government a message! It is time for a change.
One last note and a pet peeve for me is that dialysis bus sitting there making the hospital look like an RV park. Complete that with people crawling in and out of it as there is no proper access. It is sad that Prentice couldn’ t take the time, when he was here, to have a look and feel compassion for these people. He sent a message with that and that is he just doesn’ t care. I’ ve finally figured out what PC stands for PRIORITY FOR CORPORATIONS.
