Take social distancing seriously

Letter to the Editor

What does self isolation and social distancing mean? Why are so many consciously or unconsciously ignoring it?

Staying home with regular outdoor fresh air breathers is isolation. It does not mean invite your family over for Sunday dinner, have a birthday party for grandpa or junior. It means do not socialize, period. Yes it is safe to go outdoors, just do not take the kids to the playground.

If you have to go out to shop, do so at non peak times which are displayed on most Google searches but generally mean evening or very early in the morning.  Keep a two-metre distance from everyone. That's the distance part.

Do not need anything? Stay home, take that walk around your neighbourhood, wave at your neighbours and insure the seniors or handicapped have what they need. Do not hoard, there is lots of food in the system.

If out, on returning, wash your hands. Got wipes?  Wipe your steering wheel and door handles.

This COVID-19 virus will be around for weeks, if not months! The curve the media refers to is rising very sharply in Canada. Let's take this seriously  and be responsible citizens, neighbours and family members. If COVID-19 spreads, are you going to be the one responsible?  Think about it.
