Dear Editor,
This is a letter to the editor in response to comments made by MD of Bonnyville CAO Ryan Pool in regards to proposed amendments to Land Use Bylaw 525.
I have been reading Mike Wasylyk's letters to the editor and Ryan Poole's comments. I cannot believe that Ryan Poole would think that people are that gullible as to believe that every MD in Alberta does not need permits for anything to fast track the work and not have to go through the people. In my research, this MD will be the only one in Alberta to enforce this by law.
The MD of Bonnyville has lost one court case and also an (impartial) appeal and was told it requires permits for public utilities. In order to save face and not have to remove dumpsters, etc. from different sites, they chose to ignore the courts and change the bylaw to suit themselves. This is a dangerous precedent.
We expect our elected representatives to act responsibly.
You have to remember, we do have a Canadian Charter of Rights & Freedoms, which gives everyone, including the likes of Clifford Olson and Robert Pickton, the right to appeal to an unbiased board.
What (will be taken away) next..our right to vote?
Fear the politicians who seek excessive powers over the people. They may have a hidden agenda. Hitler did!
