The recent promise to provide full-time dialysis service in Lac La Biche is welcome news, but what has got some people talking is the timing of the announcement. This service has been really needed and lobbied for more than 10 years, coincidentally, about the same amount of time Ray Danyluk has been our MLA. To have the money miraculously show up for this project on the eve of an election call, with polls indicating Mr. Danyluk is in for the fight of his life, is questionable to say the least. What's troubling about all this, in my opinion, is that people fighting for their real lives have to wait for an election call and unfavourable polls to get local life-saving services. The Conservative government has played this game for far too long. People of Lac La Biche County are smarter than that and won't be fooled by this. I believe it's time for a change of government. It's time for people to choose a government that does things for the right reasons, does things on merit and not for pure political gain and self-preservation.
