What we have here

We say it every year. We say it throughout the year. Shop Local. It’s what keeps our community growing.

We say it every year. We say it throughout the year. Shop Local. It’s what keeps our community growing. Sure, the lure of the big city and bright lights, the throngs of frantic Christmas shoppers, the 12 different stores that offer remarkably similar products at slightly different prices … Tim Hortons, all can draw us. We’re only human. But don’t neglect our local retailers.

A trip to Edmonton, a run into Wal-Mart, a quick stop at Future Shop and an excursion to Toys R Us will make you feel as if you’ve searched for the best deal, but how about a trip to your neighbour’s store? Maybe stop in at the local business that supports your kids’ hockey team.

All too often we forget that while money might make the world go round, it also makes our community go around.

Some might say that selection is lacking in smaller retail areas, or that prices are higher. And sometimes that’s absolutely correct. But give our guys a chance. Ask them to match a price or to order in that one of a kind gift idea.

If Shop Local is too much of a jump, at least ‘try’ local first.
